On Monday, August 11, 2025, U.S. Representative Don Davis (D-NC) visited Hoffer Flow Controls, the Elizabeth City manufacturer known worldwide for precision flow measurement technology. The visit followed the recent recognition of company leaders Mamie Hoffer (CEO) and Jason Futrell (President) as the Small Business Administration’s Business Persons of the Year at both the national and state levels earlier this year.

Earlier in the year, Congressman Davis had honored Hoffer Flow Controls on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives during National Small Business Week, praising the company’s innovation, community leadership, and its role in Eastern North Carolina’s economy.

During his visit, Congressman Davis toured the company’s manufacturing facility, met with employees, and engaged in open discussions on key issues facing small businesses, including healthcare costs, tariffs, and workforce development. Employees had the opportunity to share their experiences directly with their congressional representative.

The Elizabeth City State University marching band helped mark the occasion by welcoming Congressman Davis with a spirited performance upon his arrival at the company’s campus.

The visit served as both a celebration of small business excellence and a reminder of the important role innovation and manufacturing play in driving economic growth across Eastern North Carolina.
