The first of two EASR (Enterprise Air Surveillance Radar) configurations — the single-face, rotating array — has received its Navy nomenclature, AN/SPY-6(V)2, and is progressing on schedule for delivery for the next America-class amphibious assault ship, the future USS Bougainville (LHA-8), in 2021. Hoffer received a purchase order from Raytheon to supply flow meters and signal conditioners for water/glycol measurement for the radar systems. These flow systems are designed to meet US Navy shipboard requirements including shock, vibration, and EMI (electro-magnetic interference). In addition to Hoffer meeting the shipboard requirements, Raytheon was aware of Hoffer’s extensive experience in working with the US Navy for their flow measurement needs.
AN/SPY-6(V)2 is a rotating, 9-Radar modular assembly configuration radar providing simultaneous anti-air and anti-surface warfare as well as air traffic control missions, with electronic protection and cyber resiliency. This advanced radar offers a scalable design that includes modules that can be grouped to build any size radar aperture, from a single RMA to configurations larger than currently fielded radars.

Radar Cooling Flowmeter Applications from Hoffer Flow Controls
Hoffer Turbine Flowmeters are available in a broad range of standard and special materials. The wide range of construction options allows for selecting the optimum combination of useful range, corrosion resistance, and operating life for a particular application. A low mass rotor design allows for a rapid dynamic response which permits the turbine flowmeter to be used in pulsating flow applications.
