Do you need bi-directional flow measurement?
Bi-directional flow measurement is easily and economically accomplished with the Hoffer HO Series of liquid flow meters. We have provided a wide variety of bi-directional flow solutions to many customers including applications such as military, specifically the US Navy, shipboard for loading fuel to the aircraft in one direction and off-loading fuel in the other direction for net fuel consumption. We have also supplied bi-directional flow measurement meters in the oil and gas industry for moving refined petroleum products from one storage facility to another.
The Hoffer meter design is symmetrical thereby making it very simple to add a second pickup coil to the flow meter housing located at 90 electrical degrees relative to the first coil. The meter is calibrated in both the forward and reverse flow directions. A quadrature electronics, option on our flow computers, accepts the simultaneous inputs from the dual coils and detects flow direction depending on the electrical phase shift. We have provided bi-directional flow measurement solutions to many customers. We commonly utilize dual coil meters on uni-directional flow applications for output redundancy. The dual coil flow meters are often used in aerospace applications.
